June 2026 Media Consumption

While it’s hot here on the West Coast, we spend evenings consuming media. It gets cool. Which leads to warming up with a good show. Or a bad show. Let me know in the comments below what you’re watching, and what you think.

Widow’s Bay–this was probably the first Apple TV show the two of us streamed and kept wanting to go for more. It’s weird, it’s creepy, and there’s going to be a season 2.

Harlem Renaissance series by Kennedy Ryan–I’ve gotta read the second for book club this week and the first was staring at me from my shelf. It’s such a good book series. The characters are well written so far and Kennedy Ryan usually keeps up amazing work. Looking forward to finishing this.

Dungeon Crawler Carl–Probably deserves it’s own post. I read 4-8 last month. OOOOOOHHHHHHHHH. Now to wait for the last two books.
Cape Fear– I didn’t like it from the opener (#skunks), but I tried. He finally said tonight ‘what is going on with this?’ and I’m super happy that we might not be watching it. I think it’s trying to do too much, and the source material (the original OR the remake) was already done well. Speilbeg and Scorcese executive produced it and I don’t know what they intend with this. I say it’s skippable.

Animal Kingdom–So Good. I remember them advertising in Netflix flyers but I missed it until just now. I like it. A lot. I think about the show even when I’m not watching it and I’m only in mid season 2. It’s fun to watch the continuity–there are a lot of different places where they film that I’ve been to.

Honorable(?) mention–We’re trying to watch more of what we pay for on streaming. I’m into season 3, and it’s a lot like a weird version of Dallas or Dynastic. It’s more dramatic than Land Man, which I surprisingly enjoyed. I was thinking about watching one of the offshoot shows after this, but I’m not sure.
