I am definitely a fan of psychological thrillers, and I’ve had my eye on this one. Loved Eyes Wide Shut, but it’s not a movie I like to watch over and over…lol.
I like the idea of re-branding…I’ve done it on some of my blogs. Yes, some. I have eleven. But my “most visited” blogs seem to have attracted more visits after re-branding.
Love “playing” on words. I’ve done that with some of my sites…and, in fact, my pseudonym is a play on my birth name (Frost).
I haven’t read many books that I would consider psychological thrillers, so it’s hard to say. I suspect they are just right when someone is in a certain mood.

I’m not one for romance-ish novels normally, but I DO love some historical fiction. The setting of this book could definitely tip it into a “must read” for me.
This sounds like a very interesting read! I loved reading romance-centered stories growing up (I was a pretty big Meg Cabot fan for years), but with my time as limited as it has been lately, I never seem to read anything but parenting books. I definitely get tired of the far-fetched stories out there, so I’m intrigued after hearing this is a more realistic fairytale. Thank you so much for sharing! I’ll be looking this up.

I’m currently reading “There’s Something About St. Tropez” by Elizabeth Adler. Being a travel enthusiast, I love her books because they always center around an exotic location peppered with mystery, adventure and romance.
As a stay at home homeschooling mommy…I don’t have a lot of time to do my reading. I am busy this month trying to get some in since it is National Reading Month. I have started In Between by Jenny B. Jones, and Thick as Thieves by Susan K. Marlow. Between all the picture books we are reading, we are also enjoying Mrs. Piggle Wiggle and Little House in the Big Woods for our family read a-louds. Wow, 15-20 books a week? I admire you! I’m a book lover too but if I finish one book a week I’m already proud of myself! I just can’t seem to find the time for it. Currently I’m reading (well, actually listening to) a classic: How to make friends and influence people by Dale Carnegie. I bought the audiobook and listened to it while at the ophthalmologist. They had dilated my pupils so reading was impossible! I’m curious, do you like audiobooks as well? I know some book lovers hate them.
I love the idea of having a cyber reading club. I was a member of Goodreads, but I got too many emails and instead of adjusting that, I just deleted my profile. I read a ton. Right now, I’m finishing the last 50 Shades series – I started it before seeing the movie with a girlfriend. I love leaving reviews and I have no idea how to review this series. It wasn’t as bad as people said, but not something I see myself re-listening too.
I’m also re-reading a series on my Kindle that I LOVE LOVE LOVE. I love that Amazon tracks what I read/listen too and suggests more. There are some truly talented (and some not so talented) writers out there and they give me the courage to keep on plugging away and stretch my wings a little on l my blog.
Looking forward to hearing how you like the book Quiet! I love interesting non-fiction reads. We had a quiet woman in our book club, when she spoke she chose her words wisely and she had the most thoughtful comments of anyone in our bookclub!
I love to read and I have to pace myself so I can get things done. I just finished Motive and The Girl on the Train. Don’t know what my next book will be.
We are reading Towards Infinity, by the ex-wife of Stephen Hawking the physicist. It is fascinating to see the inside of the world that seemed so well organised on the outside was an epic struggle on a day to day basis.
As I’ve gotten older, my reading taste has been oriented more towards non-fiction books. Although, I used to love to read Stephen King and V.C. Andrews books.
My current read is called Tortured for Christ by Rev. Richard Wurmbrand. It is a story about what he went through after many years of torture while imprisoned in a Communist prison for his belief in Christianity. It is such an eye-opening and moving story.
I am way behind on my reading because of several projects I am working on right now. But once my big project is done, in April, I’ve got time to read built into my schedule again.
I hope you get a chance to finish On Writing. I thought it was a great book and had a lot of useful advice.

I’m not big on reading and I embrace that and own that with pride. I’ve tried reading books and novels but it’s just not my thing. I will and can read spiritual books & self-help books but that’s about as far as my reading goes. My friend, however, can read a book in a weekend if she puts her mind to it.
My reading is usually online and whatever catches my attention, sometimes about health, recipes, blogging or just a good blog post. I wish I had time to read books, I get obsessed with them, once I start its all I do.

Currently I am reading an ebook my friend wrote called 10 Simple Insights to Living a Happy Life, by Nick Myers. It’s a great book! I do not read that much in regards to actual books. I don’t even think I’ve read 200 books my entire life. But all I can say is wow! that is awesome you can do that 🙂

I’ve been meaning to read On Writing for ever, something always gets in the way! At the moment I’m reading The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency – the action seems a bit slow, but I’m loving the language, lots of wordplay and fun metaphors.

Wow, 15-20 books a month is a lot! I love to read and usually have about 3-4 books going at a time, but rarely finish one within a month these days due to homeschooling my children plus an infant in the house. I don’t get much sleep right now because of the baby. I hope to get back to reading more soon when our routine gets established again.
You have really inspired me. I used to read a book every week, and have dropped off quite a bit. I am back to a book every two weeks as of today (i.e. that is my commitment). Thanks again.
Ever since I got married and got blessed with two kids, I literally stop reading books. As a full time mom, my time is spent mostly on taking care of the family. A year ago, I started missing reading and I decided to pick up on the hobby again. It even inspired me to write a book myself. Bottom line is, I guess, is that once you’re a reader, you’ll always be a reader. 🙂

I love reading, but find I don’t read much fiction until the summer or other holidays. Right now I’m reading the Harry Potter series, though – my kids have read them all, and I feel like I need to catch up :). I read a lot of cookbooks regularly.
I love reading! I used to read a 500 page book every few days with no problem. Then I entered the real world haha Now my goal is to read two of my books a week. I’ve got about 30 waiting on me right now!
Oh, On Writing in a wonderful gift to all writers! I listend to the audio version and love it because he reads the book. It’s like having a master class with Stephen King. If your kindle is not working and your library has a copy of the CD’s, I can’t recommend the audio version enough.
I haven’ had a lot of time to read, but have been listening to audiobooks at work. I steamed through The Selection Series (young adult). I loved it. I was sad when it was over.

Great review! Landline was my first Rainbow Rowell book that I read last year because I’ve been so curious about her writing. Although some parts of the story fell flat for, I loved the concept and thought it was a funny story. I also teared-up a bit at the end. What did you think of Georgie’s best friend? I thought he was hilarious, but other people I know thought he was a jerk.

Hello! Angelfire/Geocities sure takes me back. Back to the days when I only used Yahoo and ignored my roommate’s insistence that Google was the future.
I’ve never used audible. Probably because English is a second language to me, listening to an audio book demands too much attention, and it doesn’t let me keep my own pace.
BUT I listened to some ‘audio dramas’ by Big Finish. I like them because they’re not someone reading a book. Instead, they’re more like the radio dramas, with full cast and sound effects.
I think I might try an audiobook someday, thanks to the kindle integration. That way, I can alternate between reading/listening to the same book.

One thing — Under the Dome is really good (I love King) … HOWEVER it is one of the best examples of Stephen King needing an editor to tell him when to shut up 🙂 It’s REALLY long unnecessarily.
But if you generally like his books, you’ll like that one too 🙂
Also, Mirror, Mirror is really good. The only Gregory Maguire book I don’t like is Lost
Yes, the only way I finished Lost was because it was the only book I had on a cross-country flight.
I really enjoyed recent King (I had been reticient, as I’m a fan of the old stuff), but Under the Dome is sitting there, in paperback, judging me.

Shopping online focuses your mind, it means no impulse buys and saves you a lot of money. for those on a budget this is important. We always make a list – write it down the old fashioned way. Great way to save

I don’t get out of the house through the week sometimes so our errands and shopping trip is actually fun for me. I don’t think I would want to give up physically shopping for items. To save time when I try to mark our shopping list with which items need to be purchased at each store.
ePantry sounds great and I’m all for saving money and having the flat smell nice! I’m kind of a clean freak so I adore the task. I think my biggest time saver is that my flat is no bigger than most people’s kitchens 🙂
ePantry sounds like a wonderful way to shop for environmentally-friendly cleaning products; I wish they also had a base here in the UK, as I’d definitely use them! I’m all about saving money on EVERYTHING and I really like some of these types of subscriptions. I’ve done subscriptions with diapers and kids boxes before and currently do essential oils. Never heard of e-pantry before so its a new thing to me. Is the shipping reasonable?

I’ve been wondering how well ePantry works. I got fed up with Amazon subscribe and save and canceled all of my products. Sometimes I regret it so I’ll have to check this out.
This makes me curious about the shipping costs for ePantry. Usually when I find discounts online on things, I end up not saving anything because of the shipping costs.
I have heard to epantry before but I usually just use a few solutions, and find my sources locally to be fairly affordable. I will have to check this out though to see if their prices are better!

I have not heard of ePantry before. I do, however love Method Products. I like counter sprays for cleaning and the hand soap. They smell really good and don’t have the harsh chemical smells like Clorox Clean-Up spray.

Oh goodness, yes! Water is soooo important. I can tell immediately if I haven’t had enough. It’s good for pain management too – more hydration = less pain.
200 books is a lot to read in a year. Hope you get it done but 127 is great anyway. It depends what else you do in life, we can’t read all day! I have yet to read a Beth Kendrick book but I want to soon.
Ebooks have their place but I will never give up the wonderful feel of a real book. Kids should have a balnce between the two. I’m not sure ebooks should replace the real thing in the classroom yet

I’m a fan of both. I have both old and new books for when I want to curl up with tea and a book, but I have tons of eBooks on my iPad for on the go reading! It’s too convenient to have a full library in your hand. 🙂

I am a fan of e-books, but I find myself gravitating to hard copies more often. For kids, I can see the advantage of saving trees and shelf space in a school library, but if an e-reader has games on it, I could see that being a distraction when kids are supposed to be reading. So I’m torn. I have two that love to read, one not so much. I think if an e-reader gets kids more excited to read, I guess that’s the way we should be headed.
I like my reference books to be paper and my more recreational reading in digital form. This way the important info is still available in event of a massive, prolonged power outage.
I’m still a sucker for a paper book, but I love that we have the ability to read on electronics now. You’re right, it’s going to change the face of reading. I work at Sylvan Learning Center and we use iPads to help the learning process! It’s amazing how much the kids love them!
I hope to start the Lunar Chronicles later this month, I know late to the party, but at least I will be able to read them at will! Hope you enjoy Winter.
I haven’t done NaNoWriMo before but I really want to. Maybe next year. It just seems so intimidating committing to writing solid daily for one month. I need to get into this routine though!
I have never completed or even tried to complete nanowritmo. I know my capabilities and I know this is something I would tire of quickly and it would bore me. I tend to fly by the seat of my pants most of the time and am more creative that way.
I have participated in NaNoWriMo in the past and am not this round. I have had to reprioritize where I am spending my time and it isn’t one of my priorities. I always had fun when participating. These are great tips!
I’ve done NaNoWriMo 4 times, and have completed it 3 times. I’m not doing it this year as my schedule just isn’t conducive to adding one more thing, but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it when I’ve done it. This is an excellent list of tips!

Oh, I like your story of picking the Beach Boys. I’d more likely pick Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons 🙂 I *love* harmonies. And The Beach Boys have always been one of my favorite groups. (I like their holiday stuff too). I saw them in concert with John Stamos once and it was great, great fun!

I totally understand! I’m a voracious reader as well, and when I can’t sit down to read I listen to audio. What’s the point in knowing how to read unless you do it? It’s interesting how many people want to meet someone famous and be acknowledged for only a matter of moments, and yet they never think of the fact that the library is full of books containing the innermost thoughts of truly amazing people that they can spend hours with at a time.
I just can’t understand how anyone can live without a library card. Inconceivable!
I like to read, but I’m not a fast reader. That’s o.k. I’m retired and my time is my own. I don’t read as much as I used to, however. I’m on the computer more, reading blogs and writing. But I have at least two books going at a time. One is on an iPad that I keep with me so I can read whenever I get a few minutes, especially while waiting for someone or something. And the other I keep on the bed headboard so I can read when I lie down for a rest or before I go to sleep. These days I read mostly fiction, unless I am researching something for my writing. I often have two or three paper books from the library that I’m using for research at home. ( I’m74 years old and partial to paper books. 🙂 But I do read on my Kindle and iPad – mysteries, detective stories. They help me relax. While I’m a slow reader – compulsively reading every word, I’m afraid – I do read a lot. My spouse devours books. She speed-reads and goes through at least three books a week from the library. I used to wish I could read as fast. But as I age speed isn’t as important to me.

I have to be honest and say, I have not yet taken to the idea of an ebook. I was recently sent a pdf version of a book to review and after the first few chapters found it a bit frustrating. I like to make notes as I go but was unable to scribble with my pencil in the margins. It was also difficult to remember where I was up to without my bookmark. I ended up printing out the whole book and am now a much happier reader! Yes, I know that a pdf has more limitations so maybe I can do these things with an ebook but I was also missing that feel and sense of where I was up to. Something you only get with the physical book. At this point in time, I am definitely one that still prefers the old school way!

I wasn’t sure I’d like my Kindle, but I do find it useful for going away/hospital admissions. I am currently reading a book by Rachel Vincent – The Stars Never Rise, on my kindle. Also reading a paper book by Laurell K Hamilton from the Anita Blake series, which I really enjoy. Got so many more on my wishlist!

Star Wars has always been part of growing up and I want to share that to my kids as well, which is why I was super excited when all these brand new Star Wars films are being shown. Rogue One is much awaited and I can’t be any more excited for it!
I’m not sure how I feel about Rogue One yet. I appreciate the strong female characters and everything, but I’m not sure how I feel with all of these prequels and extending of older series etc. I wasn’t even a big fan of the last Star Wars. It felt like A New Hope 2.0. Everything great about the classic A New Hope, they brought over and used again. Maybe I’m a weirdo though.
I wish I had some extra time to read now. I am so super swamped with work and holidays that I am on overload. But – great suggestions and I hope to be able to settle down with a good book soon!

I was never a Star Wars girl… I didn’t watch it as a child. Saw it the first time in college when they re-released it. So, I haven’t been into any of the new ones either… my daughter likes them though.
I haven’t watch it yet, because still many people are lining up for this movie. However I think I will enjoy The Rogue One just like the previous sequels.
I read the very first book in this series a long time ago, and really didn’t like it even though I usually like fun, quirky cozy mysteries. Do they get better or are they maybe just not for me, do you think?
Nicole, it must be the name… Action movies make me fall asleep, too. It was not until the third time (we picked all late showings, though) that I actually watched the whole movie–the whole way through–without falling asleep.

I love getting free Kindle books too. The problem is I usually put those on the back burner because I have no due date to read them, like I do with library books. ha. But they’ll be there when I get ready for them. The favorite book I’m reading now is Small Great Things, which is a library book and I know I won’t be able to renew it so I need to finish it within 2 weeks.
Well done in hitting 150 books, that is a lot. I manage to get some reading done in the evenings when the kids are in bed. Right now I am reading Many Lives, Many Masters by Dr. Brian Weiss. Not a novel but an account of this patient who gets regressed to her past lives, it’s fascinating.
It took me a year to read through the Lord of the Rings. It’s definitely not something that can be pounded through like the Hobbit. Come see what I’m reading

I bought my Kindle Fire earlier this year and absolutely love it! Wait – loved it until the new update that happened recently. I loved the “recent” tab (I think that’s what it was called – it’s already fading in my memory) because I could find some of my docs and open them up, then they’d show up there. So, even though (like you’re saying), books sent to you via email are off in la-la land, it was easier to find the ones that I was currently reading. Now that’s been replaced by some other tab that I don’t even use but can’t make go away.
All in all, still really enjoy my Kindle Fire and hope yours is still working for you, too!

That Neil Gaiman quote is beyond relatable in reference to this question. It’s such a broad question that I don’t think anybody WOULDN’T have a hard time in answering it. I know there are quite a few readers with ‘default, go-to’ answers for what their favourite book is, but I think even that would be too difficult for me. I read way too many different genres and love a range of books for different reasons, so it would be too hard to narrow it down to just one.
I also enjoyed ‘Fangirl’! It was a funny yet chilled read, which is always nice.
I loved Fangirl so much I cried when I ran out of pages (I was reading on my kindle and wasn’t paying attention). I wasn’t ready for it to end. I like your sentiments. I have a favorite, but that’s just because I haven’t seen my experience reflected frequently in books. Happy reading!

Great question, I feel like the older books are more suited to the tv show. However, the newer ones have one or two authors in addition to Jessica, and while they are trying to bring Cabot Cove into the 21st century, sometimes they miss the mark a bit.

I loved reading romance-centered stories growing up (I was a pretty big Meg Cabot fan for years), but with my time as limited as it has been lately, I never seem to read anything but parenting books. I definitely get tired of the far-fetched stories out there, so I’m intrigued after hearing this is a more realistic fairytale. Thank you so much for sharing! I’ll be looking this up.

Currently I’m reading (well, actually listening to) a classic: How to make friends and influence people by Dale Carnegie. I bought the audiobook and listened to it while at the ophthalmologist. They had dilated my pupils so reading was impossible! I’m curious, do you like audiobooks as well? I know some book lovers hate them.

March 11, 2015 at 11:34 pmI love the idea of having a cyber reading club. I was a member of Goodreads, but I got too many emails and instead of adjusting that, I just deleted my profile. I read a ton. Right now, I’m finishing the last 50 Shades series – I started it before seeing the movie with a girlfriend. I love leaving reviews and I have no idea how to review this series. It wasn’t as bad as people said, but not something I see myself re-listening too.
I’m also re-reading a series on my Kindle that I LOVE LOVE LOVE. I love that Amazon tracks what I read/listen too and suggests more. There are some truly talented (and some not so talented) writers out there and they give me the courage to keep on plugging away and stretch my wings a little on l my blog.

March 13, 2015 at 12:20 amAs I’ve gotten older, my reading taste has been oriented more towards non-fiction books. Although, I used to love to read Stephen King and V.C. Andrews books.
My current read is called Tortured for Christ by Rev. Richard Wurmbrand. It is a story about what he went through after many years of torture while imprisoned in a Communist prison for his belief in Christianity. It is such an eye-opening and moving story.

A year ago, I started missing reading and I decided to pick up on the hobby again. It even inspired me to write a book myself. Bottom line is, I guess, is that once you’re a reader, you’ll always be a reader. 🙂

If your kindle is not working and your library has a copy of the CD’s, I can’t recommend the audio version enough.

Although some parts of the story fell flat for, I loved the concept and thought it was a funny story. I also teared-up a bit at the end. What did you think of Georgie’s best friend? I thought he was hilarious, but other people I know thought he was a jerk.

June 1, 2015 at 4:10 pmI’ve never used audible. Probably because English is a second language to me, listening to an audio book demands too much attention, and it doesn’t let me keep my own pace.
BUT I listened to some ‘audio dramas’ by Big Finish. I like them because they’re not someone reading a book. Instead, they’re more like the radio dramas, with full cast and sound effects.
I think I might try an audiobook someday, thanks to the kindle integration. That way, I can alternate between reading/listening to the same book.

One thing — Under the Dome is really good (I love King) … HOWEVER it is one of the best examples of Stephen King needing an editor to tell him when to shut up 🙂 It’s REALLY long unnecessarily.
But if you generally like his books, you’ll like that one too 🙂
Also, Mirror, Mirror is really good. The only Gregory Maguire book I don’t like is Lost

I really enjoyed recent King (I had been reticient, as I’m a fan of the old stuff), but Under the Dome is sitting there, in paperback, judging me.

For kids, I can see the advantage of saving trees and shelf space in a school library, but if an e-reader has games on it, I could see that being a distraction when kids are supposed to be reading. So I’m torn. I have two that love to read, one not so much. I think if an e-reader gets kids more excited to read, I guess that’s the way we should be headed.

August 8, 2016 at 9:07 amI totally understand! I’m a voracious reader as well, and when I can’t sit down to read I listen to audio. What’s the point in knowing how to read unless you do it? It’s interesting how many people want to meet someone famous and be acknowledged for only a matter of moments, and yet they never think of the fact that the library is full of books containing the innermost thoughts of truly amazing people that they can spend hours with at a time.
I just can’t understand how anyone can live without a library card. Inconceivable!

August 8, 2016 at 11:01 amI like to read, but I’m not a fast reader. That’s o.k. I’m retired and my time is my own. I don’t read as much as I used to, however. I’m on the computer more, reading blogs and writing. But I have at least two books going at a time. One is on an iPad that I keep with me so I can read whenever I get a few minutes, especially while waiting for someone or something. And the other I keep on the bed headboard so I can read when I lie down for a rest or before I go to sleep. These days I read mostly fiction, unless I am researching something for my writing. I often have two or three paper books from the library that I’m using for research at home. ( I’m74 years old and partial to paper books. 🙂 But I do read on my Kindle and iPad – mysteries, detective stories. They help me relax. While I’m a slow reader – compulsively reading every word, I’m afraid – I do read a lot. My spouse devours books. She speed-reads and goes through at least three books a week from the library. I used to wish I could read as fast. But as I age speed isn’t as important to me.

I would call myself a dedicated physical book reader, and I’ve even gone so far as to say I’d never buy an e-reader. However you offered up some very valid points in its defense, so I am definitely willing to change my thoughts on the matter. I think you’re right on the money when you said readers can enjoy books of either type and still be awesome. Well done!

August 12, 2016 at 5:22 pmI have to be honest and say, I have not yet taken to the idea of an ebook. I was recently sent a pdf version of a book to review and after the first few chapters found it a bit frustrating. I like to make notes as I go but was unable to scribble with my pencil in the margins. It was also difficult to remember where I was up to without my bookmark. I ended up printing out the whole book and am now a much happier reader! Yes, I know that a pdf has more limitations so maybe I can do these things with an ebook but I was also missing that feel and sense of where I was up to. Something you only get with the physical book. At this point in time, I am definitely one that still prefers the old school way!

I appreciate the strong female characters and everything, but I’m not sure how I feel with all of these prequels and extending of older series etc. I wasn’t even a big fan of the last Star Wars. It felt like A New Hope 2.0. Everything great about the classic A New Hope, they brought over and used again. Maybe I’m a weirdo though.

January 9, 2017 at 5:29 amThat’s so funny that one of the books you were reading was out of order–I bet that made the plot a bit different than the author originally intended! 🙂 I haven’t had as much time to read as I’d like over the last year or so: I used to teach college level literature, so I used to read ALL of the time, but that got shuffled to the back burner when I had kids and started blogging and freelancing. I asked for a bunch of books for Christmas, so I have a nice little pile by my bed to read when I get a quick minute!

But they’ll be there when I get ready for them. The favorite book I’m reading now is Small Great Things, which is a library book and I know I won’t be able to renew it so I need to finish it within 2 weeks.

Right now I am reading Many Lives, Many Masters by Dr. Brian Weiss. Not a novel but an account of this patient who gets regressed to her past lives, it’s fascinating.

September 21, 2017 at 11:49 amI bought my Kindle Fire earlier this year and absolutely love it! Wait – loved it until the new update that happened recently. I loved the “recent” tab (I think that’s what it was called – it’s already fading in my memory) because I could find some of my docs and open them up, then they’d show up there. So, even though (like you’re saying), books sent to you via email are off in la-la land, it was easier to find the ones that I was currently reading. Now that’s been replaced by some other tab that I don’t even use but can’t make go away.
All in all, still really enjoy my Kindle Fire and hope yours is still working for you, too!

May 13, 2018 at 3:18 amThat Neil Gaiman quote is beyond relatable in reference to this question. It’s such a broad question that I don’t think anybody WOULDN’T have a hard time in answering it. I know there are quite a few readers with ‘default, go-to’ answers for what their favourite book is, but I think even that would be too difficult for me. I read way too many different genres and love a range of books for different reasons, so it would be too hard to narrow it down to just one.
I also enjoyed ‘Fangirl’! It was a funny yet chilled read, which is always nice.
